Golden Goose was established in 2003. The project is based in Welkom the Free State Province of South Africa, and manufactures MOTOHO (Traditional Sorghum soft porridge). The product is known for its health benefits with micronutrients which addresses deficiencies for consumers, as well as a source of energy. Studies shows that micronutrient malnutrition still affects over 3 billion people, mostly women and children and infants of resource-deprived families. Golden Goose produces its raw materials (sorghum) from the farm to ensure the safety and quality of the production, as well as a reliable supply of the ingredients. The ideal of broadening participation in sorghum grain and agro-processing sector is to promote consumption of sorghum food products by creating awareness of the health properties the product contains, to be able to make a meaningful contribution towards food security, to combat poor nutrition related social impact and to contribute to the economic sustainability.
